Govaert Lifts No. 10 Eagles Over No. 4 Duke, 1-0

NEWTON, MASS. – A Fusine Govaert fourth period goal lifts the No. 10 Boston College field hockey team over the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils on Friday, Nov. 1 at the Newton Field Hockey Complex.

The win improves BC to 11-6 on the season and 4-2 in ACC play. The four wins is the most conference wins for the Eagles since joining the ACC.

The Eagles started off slow, only taking one shot in the first half to Duke's three, but Sarah Dwyer stood tall in goal, making two first-half saves.

BC then came out in the second half firing. Although the game was scoreless through three periods, BC outshot the Blue Devils 9-0 in the third.

Then, in the 50th minute, Margo Carlin inserted a penalty corner to Darcy Clement, who left the ball for Govaert, who buried the game's only goal.

Dwyer played all 60 minutes in goal for the Eagles, notching her fifth shutout of the season and 12th of her career.
