Eagles to Play Harvard, BU in Non-Conference Matchups

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College field hockey team is set to continue its non-conference schedule at home against Harvard on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Newton Field Hockey Complex. Then on Sunday, Oct. 13, BC will head to Boston University for a game at New Balance Field at 1 p.m.

The Last Matchup
Boston College traveled to Harvard for another ranked matchup, falling to the then No. 6 team in the country, 1-0. It was a defensive battle as both teams only totaled 13 shots combined. It was Harvard's first win over the Eagles since 2003.

Last year, BC closed the season with a 1-0 win over BU on senior day. Jonna Kennedy made two saves to shut out the Terriers.

Last Weekend
BC earned a pair of tough wins, one at home and one on the road. On Friday night with Sarah Dwyer in net, BC shut out No. 8 Virginia, 1-0. Fusine Govaert scored the only goal for the Eagles, off a penalty corner from Margo Carlin and Darcy Clement.

Then on Sunday, BC welcomed Quinnipiac to campus, where the Eagles won, 4-0. BC had four different goal scorers, while Dwyer earned her second-straight shutout. Govaert and Margo Carlin both tallied three points on the day.

Scouting Harvard
Harvard enters the game with a 7-2 record and won their last six games. This past weekend they defeated No. 13 Liberty, 2-1, in overtime.

The Crimson averages 2.8 goals per game and is led by Bente van Vlijmen, who has six goals and four assists on the season. Harvard has seven players with multiple goals this season.

In net, Ellie Shahbo has started every game for the Crimson, giving up only 10 total goals. She is 7-1 this year and posts a .744 save percentage.

BU enters Sunday's game coming off six-straight losses and a 3-7 record. They've faced three ranked teams, including one-goal losses to Ohio State and Maine.

The Terrier offense is led by Ailsa Connolly, who has six goals and three assists in 10 games this year.

Caroline Kennedy has started nine of 10 games for BU, surrendering a 2.61 GAA and a .662 save percentage for a 3-6 record. Livy Golini did start their last game against Penn, giving up one goal and making two saves.

Carlin's Calling
Freshman Margo Carlin has had an incredible first season at BC, scoring 11 goals so far with 25 total points. Carlin has scored goals in nine of 11 games this season. She currently sits in third in both points and goals in the ACC this season.

Govaert Honors
After scoring both game-winning goals this past weekend, Fusine Govaert earned the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award. She totaled five points over the weekend, moving her into a tie for sixth in the ACC with 17 points and tie for fifth with five assists.

BC has held steady at No. 17 in the NFHCA Coaches' Poll for the past four weeks after starting the season at No. 13. Though, in the NCAA RPI rankings, the Eagles sit at No. 14 with all seven ACC schools in the top 17.
