The swim and dive team hosts their first meet in their new home this weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive team jumpstarts their season tomorrow, hosting the annual Northeast Catholic Invitational in the opening meet at the new Margot Connell Recreation Center.
The Eagles capped off one of their most successful seasons in program history last year, ending the season with a combined 19 program records set at the ACC Championships. Returning team member Charles Kleinsmith recorded one of the first NCAA B qualifying times in program history in the 100-yard breaststroke while teammates Maura Grimes, Victoria Lin and Ali Kea combined for 10 records on the womens' side.
At last years' NECI, both the men's and women's teams claimed the overall winning position as the men earned 1,470 points and the women tallied 1,278. Both totals were more than double the next-closest competitors, as the Saint Francis women's team claimed second with 588 points and the Providence College men's team earned 700 points.
This year, the Eagles welcome Assumption, Holy Cross, Fairfield, LaSalle, Providence and Mount St. Mary's to the Connell Center. The three-day meet will begin Friday, Oct. 4 at 5:00 PM before Saturday's competition starts at 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Sunday's diving competition will take place at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., beginning at 11:00 AM.
