CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team fell to No. 1 North Carolina, 3-2, off a late goal by UNC at Karen Shelton Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25 to give the Eagles their first loss since Sept. 29.
Â
BC gave UNC a fight throughout the 60-minute game, holding the Tar Heels scoreless for the first 48 minutes of the game. It was only the second time all year UNC was held scoreless in the first half of a game.
Â
The Eagles struck first, in the 43rd minute, off a reverse shot from Charlotte Von Huelsen. The goal marked the first time UNC had trailed in an ACC game this season.
Â
UNC would answer with two of their own goals, including a second on a penalty stroke in the 51st minute.
Â
BC wouldn't go away, though, as Margo Carlin found Elizabeth Warner on a penalty corner to get the Eagles even in the 56th minute.
Â
It ended up not being enough, as the Tar Heels would score the game winner in the 58th minute off the stick of Yentl Leemans.

- Charlotte Von Huelsen scored her fifth goal of the season, moving her into third on the team with 13 points.
