No. 7 Eagles Top the Catamounts on the Road

Hannah Bilka scored twice while Kelly Pickreign finished with a career-high 33 saves.
BURLINGTON, Vt. – Hannah Bilka scored two goals and Kelly Pickreign made a career-high 33 saves as the No. 7/7 Boston College women's hockey team topped Vermont, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse. The win moves the Eagles to 6-0-0 on the year and 5-0-0 in Hockey East play.
After a scoreless first period, UVM took a 1-0 lead at 12:21 of the middle frame but Bilka responded two minutes later with her first ot the day. With 13 seconds remaining in the period, Savannah Norcross potted her fourth of the season. Pickreign racked up 24 stops through the first 40 minutes.
Bilka put home the game-winning, power-play goal early in the third with Kelly Browne earning her second assist of the game on the play. The Catamounts cut the deficit to one midway through but the Eagles killed off one final penalty, and then Cayla Barnes had a goal line block in the waning seconds to preserve the win.
Blanka Skodova finished with 26 saves for Vermont. UVM held the 35-29 lead in shots on goal and was 1-for-7 on the power play while the Eagles went 1-for-4.

- 2nd, 12:21 | 0-1, UVM GOAL: After Pickreign saved Abby Cleary's initial shot right at the top of the crease, the Alyssa Holmes was right behind to put the rebound inside the left post.
- 2nd, 14:22 | 1-1, BC GOAL: At the face-off dot to the left of Skodova, Browne won the draw and Bilka skated behind her to pick up the puck and then went far post from the slot.
- 2nd, 19:47 | 2-1, BC GOAL: Deirdre Mullowney started the breakout from the BC zone, with Caroline DiFiore eventually dumping it in for Norcross to pick up and work back behind the goal. DiFiore then centered the puck back to Norcross who slammed it home to the far post.
- 3rd, 4:31 | 3-1, BC GOAL: On the power play, Alexie Guay found Bilka at the top of the right circle and then Bilka found Browne below the goal line. As Bilka came low along the circle, Browne hit her with a pass for a finish from the bottom of the circle.
- 3rd, 9:32 | 3-2, UVM GOAL: Theresa Schafzahl got the puck near the bottom of the right circle and then snuck a shot inside the near post for a power-play goal.
- BC is now 48-3-3 all-time against the Catamounts with a mark of 37-1-4 under head coach Katie Crowley.
- The Eagles have now won 24 consecutive games against Vermont … BC is unbeaten in the last 33 games with UVM (30-3-0).
- Kelly Pickreign's 33 saves marked a career-high … her previous best was 29.
- This marked Hannah Bilka's second multi-goal game of the season … the freshman extended her point streak to five games … Bilka now has seven goals and four assists for 11 points … Bilka now has two game-winning goals on the year.
- With an assist on Savannah Norcross' second period goal, Deirdre Mullowney picked up her first career point … five of BC's six rookies now have at least one point.
- Alexie Guay and Caroline DiFiore each recorded their fourth assists of the season.
- With her two helpers in the game, Kelly Browne now has a team-leading nine on the year … she has now assisted on two-game winning goals this season … it was her third multi-point game of the season and she now has eight for her career … it was her third multi-assist game of the year and the fifth of her career.
- Thirteen Eagles now have at least one point while 11 Eagles have multiple points
- This is the second time in program history that the Eagles have opened up a season with six consecutive wins (the 2015-16 team opened up with 40 consecutive wins) … this is the sixth time the program has started unbeaten in the first six games of the season.
