Knight Collects First Career Shutout for #6 Eagles at Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Freshman Spencer Knight stopped all 39 shots he faced for his first collegiate shutout on Sunday afternoon as No. 6 Boston College posted a 3-0 victory over Colgate at Class of 1965 Arena.
The Eagles have won back-to-back games to begin the year for the first time since the 2011-12 season, which ended with BC's fifth NCAA title.
For the second straight game, BC's top line of David Cotton (1-2-3), Julius Mattila (0-3-3) and Logan Hutsko (1-0-1) combined for seven points to pace the offense. Through two games, Cotton and Mattila each have six points on two goals and four assists.
Skating in his 100th career game, senior defenseman Luke McInnis also lit the lamp in the opening period for his first goal since his freshman season.
Knight made 21 of his 39 saves in the second period as Colgate put together its best pressure of the contest, but the rookie and the penalty kill were perfect on the night to keep the Raiders (0-3-0) at bay. The Eagles also killed off nearly 40 seconds of 5-on-3 power play time in the third period.
In its first trip to Hamilton in 35 years, Boston College won the faceoff battle 32-24 and finished 1-for-6 on the power play.

1st 13:58, BC Goal (1-0) | McInnis came out of the penalty box after serving a minor and finished a give-and-go with Cotton on a heavy drive into the upper half of the net.
2nd 0:17, BC Goal (2-0) | Mattila skated down the left wing on a 2-on-1 and fed a pass across the zone to Hutsko, who gathered the puck before snapping a shot past the glove of Mitch Benson.
3rd 7:19, BC Goal (3-0) | On the power play, Aapeli Räsänen fed Cotton in the low left wing circle and his shot deflected off a Raider defenseman over Benson's shoulder blocker side.

The Eagles travel to Colorado next weekend (Oct. 18-19) for a two-game series against undefeated No. 2 Denver (4-0-0). Faceoff on Friday and Saturday night at Magness Arena is set for 9 p.m. ET.
