Eagles Compete in Women’s Showcase Qualifier; for Moody, Danmark Trophies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College sailing team competed in three regattas over the weekend, finishing in the top-10 in all three.

The Eagles best finish was for the Moody Trophy, finishing in fourth. The pair of Colin Brego and Isabelle Eckler placed sixth in the A Division with 95 points, while Scott Rasmussen and Nicole Moeder finished with 90 points for fifth in the B Division.

Then in the Women's Showcase Qualifier, BC finished in fifth with 200 points after a strong performance from Sophia Reineke and Laura Ferraris, who placed third in the A Division with 68 points. Then in the B division, Emma Batcher, Elizabeth Shanahan and Zoe Ting placed 10th with 132 points. Shanahan competed in the first 14 races, while Ting competed in the 15th.

Lastly, BC competed for the Danmark Trophy, finishing in ninth. BC would place 17th in the A Division and score 221 points from Robert Hunter, Katharine Bowman and Declan McGranahan. Bowman competed in races 1-10 and 13-20, while McGranahan competed in 11 and 12. BC then placed fifth in the B Division from trio Jack DeNatale, Eliza Wright and McGranahan. DeNatale competed in every race while Wright competed in races 1-4 and 9-20 and McGranahan in 5-8.

Next weekend, Oct. 5-6, Boston College will compete at three regattas, the first round of the Coed Showcase and for the Stu Nelson and Hewitt Trophies.
