Dickens Buzzer-Beater Sinks Duke, 92-90, in 2OT

Makayla Dickens tallied career-high 25 points
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – For the first time in four years, the Boston College women's basketball team defeated Duke, 92-90, double overtime victory on Thursday evening at Conte Forum. Boston College improved to 14-7 overall and 3-5 in the ACC. Duke drops to 9-11 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
Freshman guard Makayla Dickens drained identical buzzer-beaters at the end of regulation and the second overtime period to give the Eagles their third ACC win.
With time dripping from the clock and down by two, Dickens hit a jumper from the top of the key to send the game into overtime tied at 66. The Eagles and Blue Devils battled back-and-forth throughout the overtime period to force a second overtime with the score tied at 77.
Never holding the lead until Dickens' buzzer-beating runner, BC battled back from a five-point deficit to tie the game three times. Dickens led six players in double figures, finishing with a career-high 25 points, including a career-best seven three-pointers.
Junior forward Georgia Pineau also surpassed a career-high, dishing out eight assists, while notching 15 points. Sophomore Milan Bolden-Morris came off the bench to net 14 points, as juniors Taylor Ortlepp and Emma Guy tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Sophomore Sydney Lowery rounded out scoring with an 11-point, seven rebound effort.
With the game tied at 34-34, Duke opened the second half with an 8-1 run to take a 42-35 lead and force BC to call a timeout. Pineau broke up the scoreless stretch connecting with Guy for a jumper in the paint. The deficit was just three points, 42-39.
Bolden-Morris ignited an 8-0 run knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to give the Eagles a, 49-48, – their first lead since 1:28 of the first half. The lead was short-lived as Duke took a one-point advantage, 53-52, into the final quarter.
Midway through the fourth quarter, BC held Duke without a field goal for nearly four minutes. Dickens notched her sixth three-pointer at 7:40 to give the Eagles a four-point, 60-56 advantage. However, the Blue Devils answered with a 7-0 run of their own to take a 63-60 lead.
Lowery's three-pointer with two minutes left knotted the game cut the lead to one point, 65-64. After two freebies by Duke, Dickens hit the first of her two buzzer-beaters to send the game into overtime.
