It was the 10th edition of the networking event for female-student athletes
CHESTNUT HILL Mass. – The Council for Women of Boston College and BC Athletics hosted the 10th annual Eagles 2 Eagles networking event for female student-athletes on Wednesday evening in the Murray Room. More than 25 BC alumnae were in attendance to network with and share their professional experience with over 80 current student-athletes.
Â
The purpose of the event, which was started in conjunction with the Council for Women of Boston College (CWBC), is to bring together current female student-athletes with former BC student-athletes in an effort to provide career guidance, mentoring, life advice and networking opportunities. Alumni who returned ranged in class years from 1976 to 2017, and industries including finance, athletics, health care, law, and real estate.Â
"My favorite part of the event is how excited these student-athletes are and just the amount of knowledge that they want to learn from these ladies," said former ice hockey player Nicole Greene '99. Â "I love seeing alumni come back and wanting to give back in any way they can. I love how we've been here for two and a half hours and they are still sitting here trying to connect."
Â
The event began with a dinner and welcoming remarks from Martin Jarmond, William V. Campbell Director of Athletics. The night continued with a panel that included Jocelyn Fisher Gates, Senior Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator, and former field hockey players Chelsey Feole '10 and Jackie Kellerher '16. Following the panel was a "speed dating" networking segment.
Â
"I think this event is really important, especially for us undergrads, to take advantage of," said current lacrosse player Jillian Reilly '20. "A lot of the alumni had great advice, and whether they had the same majors and interests or not, they were able explain how they translated their skills as a student-athlete into the real world. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, we take pride in our alumni. They have paved the way and created what our program is today, so we really appreciate it."
