Eagles Return to the Slopes at UVM Carnival

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – After a weekend off, the Boston College alpine skiing team returns to the EISA circuit at the UVM Carnival this weekend on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 1-2) at Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont. Live timing from the giant slalom and slalom is available at the EISA website.

UVM CARNIVAL SCHEDULE
Friday, Feb. 1: Women's Giant Slalom (9 a.m. first run, followed by Men's GS)
Saturday, Feb. 2: Men's Slalom (9 a.m. first run, followed by Women's SL)
UNH RECAP
BC placed five skiers in the top-40 of the giant slalom two weekends ago at the UNH Carnival at Cannon Mountain as Parker Biele (23rd) and Bobby Ryan (26th) led the Eagles in the GS.

Biele, who was 18th in the GS on opening weekend at the St. Lawrence Carnival, skied a combined time of 2:21.08 which was eight seconds off the pace. Madeline Davis was the second-fastest BC finisher on the women's team with a time of 2:28.48 as she took 36th.

Captain Amanda Steffey (2:28.88) and Natalie Wetmore (2:32.49) gave Boston College four women's skiers in the top-40, while Dannica Ashnault posted a time of 2:34.22 for 41st. For the men, Ryan's combined time of 2:13.53 was less than five seconds behind winner Drew Duffy from Dartmouth.
Rookie Trent Gutstein was the top Boston College skier in the slalom, posting 38th place for the men's squad.

LAST YEAR AT UVM
As a freshman, Biele earned her top career finish at last year's UVM Carnival as she took 18th in the giant slalom at Stowe. Wetmore matched her best career finish with 32nd in the event. Chris Bertram led the men's team with 29th place in the GS and just missed a top-30 finish in the slalom as a rookie.

Boston College travels to compete in the Dartmouth Carnival next weekend (Feb. 8-9) in Hanover, New Hampshire.
