Eagles Move to 2-0 After Coasting Past Brown 6-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – For the second straight match against an Ivy League opponent, Boston College registered a commanding 6-1 victory on Tuesday against Brown at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles won all but one singles match, including three in straight sets, and earned victories in two of the three doubles matchups.
BC's top three singles players all earned straight set wins as Yufei Long, Kylie Wilcox, and Natasha Irani lost a total of 18 games against Brown's top-3. Jackie Urbinati split her first two sets against Ryan Peus but was dominant in the third set, winning 6-0 to clinch the match. Rookie Laura Lopez also picked up a singles victory in a tiebreaker against the Bears' Alessandro Bianco.
In doubles competition, the 58th-ranked team of Urbinati and Wilcox won for the second straight match following a 6-3 triumph. Newcomers Lopez and Long also collected another doubles win together by a 7-5 score to secure the doubles team point.Â
Boston College (2-0) will compete in three home matches this weekend, including a doubleheader on Saturday (Jan. 26) against Bryant (10 a.m.) and Marist (3:30 p.m.). On Sunday (Jan. 27), the Eagles face another Ivy League school Yale at 2 p.m.
