Kelly Browne Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

Browne earns first career weekly honor after helping BC to weekend-split with Northeastern.

WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Hockey East announced Monday that Boston College women's hockey freshman Kelly Browne has been named the league's Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week.

Browne had a goal and an assist in the Eagles' 7-5 win against No. 3 Northeastern on Saturday. The forward assisted on a first-period tally and then scored with 27 seconds left in the second period to give BC a 5-2 lead over the Huskies.

The Burlington, Mass. native also had two blocks, 25 face-off wins and tied for a team-high in shots on goal with 10 on the weekend. Both her shots on goal total and face-off win total ranked second among Hockey East rookies.

Overall, Browne sits second in the nation in face-off wins among first-year players with 218 while her .540 winning-percentage is eighth. This is Browne's first career weekly league honor.

No. 10 Boston College will travel to Vermont this weekend to wrap up the regular season series with a two-game set against the Catamounts.
