BC takes aim at team win to open the year
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College men's cross country team will open the season this Saturday at the Nassaney Memorial Invitational in Smithfield, R.I.

The meet, hosted by Bryant University, is a chance for the Eagles to start the year off with their best foot forward and contend for the team title.

"It is important that we know where our fitness is at so we can evaluate our training as we prepare for our big home meets," Eagles' head coach Matt Kerr said. BC's home course at Franklin Park will be the site of three races later this season – the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown, the New England Championship and the ACC Championship.

The Eagles return six of seven athletes that competed for BC at the NCAA Northeast Regional last November – seniors Sean Burke and Benjamin Osipow, juniors Ian Ritchie, Zachary Beston and Sean Sullivan and sophomore Kyle Faddis.

The men's varsity 8K is set to begin at 10:45 a.m. while the men's JV race will begin at noon.
