Wake Forest Beats Eagles, 2-1, In OT

Eagles 10-game win streak ends vs. Demon Deacons
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 11 Boston College women's soccer team fell to Wake Forest, 2-1, in overtime at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Thursday night.
BC is now 10-1-0 and 2-1 in the ACC, while Wake Forest is now 6-3-1 and 2-1 in the conference. The Eagles will play at Clemson on Sunday at 1. The Demon Deacons will travel to Virginia on Sunday.
Wake Forest's Estelle Laurier scored in the 97th minute to end the Eagles 10-game win streak.
The Eagles opened the scoring when red-shirt junior Kayla Jennings one-timed a corner kick from sophomore Sam Coffey from five yards in the 12th minute. It was Jennings' third goal and Coffey's 10th assist of the year.
Wake Forest tied the game in the 31st minute as Bayley Feist sent a through ball between two BC defenders. Mariah Lee ran onto the ball and her shot deflected off Alexis Bryant's leg and into the goal to tie the match at 1-1.
The Eagles carried the play for most of the first half. BC had five of the six corner kicks in the first 12 minutes of the match. Jillian Jennings had the best chance off a corner in the eighth minute before her sister Kayla Jennings score three minutes later. BC had nine shots in the first half.
The second half Wake Forest had nine shots and Eagles goalkeeper Alexis Bryant came up big. The graduate senior made two saves on one-on-one breaks and finished the match with three saves.
BC's best chances in the half came off the foot of Gaby Carreiro from 16 yards out in the 80th minute. Sam Coffey had a number of shots but could not slip one by the Wake Forest keeper Nonie Frishette (seven saves). Her best chance came in the 81st minute from 20 yards out. Coffey's shot was hard but right at the keeper.
Junior forward Jenna Bike was active all night creating chances for her but also her teammates. Bike's best shot came in the 62nd minute as it hit the cross bar.
Wake Forest had an early corner kick in overtime but BC cleared the ball with a long ball from Coffey. Five minutes into the extra time, Maria Lee's shot from 35-yards out went high over the cross bar. Wake Forest finally won the game when Estelle Laurier slid a shot under Bryant outstretched arm in the 97th minute.

- Sophomore Sam Coffey notched her 10th assist of the season on Kayla Jennings goal in the 11th minute. Coffey leads the country in assists with 10 assists. She now has five goals, 10 assists for a team-high 20 points.
- Junior Jenna Bike and Sam Coffey led the offense with four shots apiece.
- BC still leads the overall series against Wake Forest at 8-7-1.
