Eagles Open ACC Play with Clemson and Georgia Tech

BC will begin the conference season in Power Gym
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team opens ACC play this weekend, welcoming Clemson to the Heights on Friday before matching up with Georgia Tech in Power Gym on Sunday.
The Eagles started the season with an unprecedented nine-straight wins, and then closed out the non-conference slate with an overall record of 10-2. BC dropped its first two matches of the season last weekend in the New England Challenge, sandwiching a five-set loss at Harvard and a 3-1 decision at Northeastern around a 3-1 win over UMass Lowell at home.
"I think they (Harvard and Northeastern) played really well," first-year head coach Jason Kennedy said. "We made a lot of errors, I don't think that we were able to play the system that we wanted to play. They served pretty tough so they go us out of system a little more than we would have liked. I think we just kind of had a little bit of a lapse, nothing more than that. We've got to get back on track this week, have a better week of practice and get ready for the ACC."
The competition will ramp up for the Eagles now with the start of conference action. Georgia Tech sits second in the league with an 11-2 record, falling only to non-conference foes Alabama and Marshall, while Clemson's 9-4 record has the Tigers in fifth.
The Eagles have already eclipsed last season's win total of seven games, but BC also looks to best its 2017 conference record of 4-16.
"Clemson's coming in with nine wins on the year already, they've played some very good teams," Kennedy said. "Georgia Tech just got a big win over Georgia. That's a big deal for that program, I know they have some young kids that are making a pretty big impact already on their roster. The physicality will pick up for sure. We're just going to need to be a little bit more on-call, a little bit more diligent, a little bit more specific with the things we're doing and take care of the skill positions a little bit better."
Boston College will face Clemson on Friday at 7 p.m. in Power Gym while Sunday's matchup with Georgia Tech will start at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
