CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Finally the women's soccer team will open up ACC action on Thursday night when Syracuse comes to town at the Newton Soccer Field (7 p.m.). BC has had a 10-day layoff due to weather and travel issues surrounding Hurricane Florence.
Boston College is now 8-0-0, the teams' best start since the 2006 season when the Eagles went 9-0-0. In 2016, BC opened the season with a 9-0-1 run. The program record for longest overall streak is 10 consecutive victories in 1983. The head coach in 1983 was current assistant coach Mike LaVigne, the founder of the BC women's soccer program.

ABOUT SYRACUSE
- Syracuse is coming off a tough home loss to Duke (4-0). The Orange are now 3-6-0 overall and 0-1 in the conference.
- The Orange have been outscored 19-6 this season. They have been out-shot 142-81 in the nine games.
- Syracuse three victories came at UConn on Aug. 20 (2-1), St. John's on Aug. 23 (1-0) and at Northeastern on Sept. 2 (1-0).
- In the overall series, BC leads 7-4-2. The Eagles won the last meeting, 2-1 in overtime, in 2016.
- BC is 2-1-2 in the last five matches against the Orange.
- Boston College last played on Sept. 9. The Eagles defeated Temple, 4-1, behind goals from Kayla Jennings, Sam Coffey, Olivia Vaughn and Carly Leipzig. BC out shot the Owls, 18-5.
- BC will play at Wake Forest on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
- The Eagles will also play at Clemson but instead of Friday, Sept. 26, the game has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
