September 10, 2018 | Men's Soccer
The senior notched five points on two goals, one assist
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College forward Simon Enstrom has been recognized as the Atlantic Coast Conference's men's soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Omir Fernandez of Wake Forest was the other honoree.
Â
Enstrom played a part in all three goals in the Eagles' 3-2 win over conference foe Clemson on Friday night. Enstrom notched five points on two goals and one assist in the victory, which was the first win for BC over Clemson since the 2009 season.
Â
The captain assisted on the game's opening goal, slotting a perfect pass across to Callum Johnson, and then tied the game in the 71st minute before firing home the game-winner with a minute to play. Enstrom headed home his fourth goal of the season and his fifth came off a cross field pass from Trevor Davock, with Enstrom rifling a shot back across the goal mouth from 18 yards out in the 89th minute.
Â
Enstrom finished the game with six shots. It was the sixth multi-goal game of his career and 10th multi-point outing. He now sits sixth in program history in career points (67) and sixth all-time in goals (27). This is the first weekly conference award of Enstrom's career.
Â
Overall, Enstrom is second in the ACC in points with 11 (five goals, one assist) and is tied for the lead in goals, with two other players also notching five. His 3.50 shots per game average is tied for the league lead as well.
Â
Boston College returns to the field on Tuesday, Sept. 11, when the team hosts Holy Cross at 5 p.m. at the Newton Campus Fields.
