
Sophomores Shine in Season Starter

HAMDEN, Conn.: The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team continued their season-debut win streak as they shut out Quinnipiac, 7-0, Friday afternoon in Connecticut. The Eagles' sophomore class combined for five of the seven goals of the match, while junior goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer recorded her fourth career shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- GOAL: BC 1, QU 0; 1:25: Sophomore Fusine Govaert got the 2018 season scoring started with an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the opening match-up.
- GOAL: BC 2, QU 0; 7:24: Classmate Elizabeth Warner followed suit shortly after, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Govaert tallied her second point of the afternoon with an assist on Warner's goal.
- GOAL: BC 3, QU 0; 8:29: Brooke Matherson added to the team's momentum, increasing the lead to 3-0.
- GOAL: BC 4, QU 0; 21:17:Â Govaert's second of the afternoon showed the final score change of the first stanza. Matherson added an assist.
- GOAL: BC 5, QU 0; 44:33: Sophomore Cassidy Atchison opened up the scoring in the second period, finding the back of the net off of a corner and an assist by senior captain Frederique Haverhals.

- Freshman Nell Webber recorded her first goal as an Eagle while classmates Sky Caron and Eva Van de Mierop both had their first spots in the starting line-up.
- This win marked Boston College's 15th straight win and 10th shutout over Quinnipiac.
