CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. - Boston College lacrosse head coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein was voted the 2018 Division I Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Northeast Region Coach of the Year, as announced on Thursday by the association.

Walker-Weinstein, as well as the Division II and III coaches of the year, will be recognized on Nov. 14, during the IWLCA's Annual Meetings in Florida.

The 2018 ACC Coach of the Year, Walker-Weinstein led the Eagles to the best season in program history with an undefeated regular season (17-0) on the way to the first ACC regular season title. She led the Eagles to their second consecutive trip to the national championship game and a No. 2 ranking in the final IWLCA poll. The team also set a new program record with 22 victories during the 2018 campaign.

Over the season, Eagles set program records for goals scored (377) and draw controls (393) along with a number of players earning All-America honors.

Under the guidance of Walker-Weinstein, junior attack Sam Apuzzo set the program's single season goal scoring record (88), shattered the single season draw control record (163) and tied the single season assist record with 41 last season. She was also the first BC women's lacrosse player to be named the Tewaaraton Award winner as well win the Honda Lacrosse Award.

Along with Apuzzo, defender Elizabeth Miller, midfielder Dempsey Arsenault were all named first-team All-Americans, while attacker Kaileen Hart earned second-team honors.
