The spring sailing season is underway and the Eagles have picked up wins at the John Jackson Memorial Team Regatta, the St. Mary's Interconference, the BC Team Race and the Lynne Marchiando Team Race Regatta.
Week Four
The Boston College sailing team traveled to St. Petersburg, Florida to compete in the Mendelblatt Team Race. The Eagles placed fourth overall with a 10-9 record on the weekend. Skippers who competed in the race were Isabella Loosbrock, Sophia Reineke and Wade Waddell. Crew members were Emma Perry, Lily McGrath and Katharine Bowman.
Week Five
The Eagles did not compete during week five.
Week Six
BC went 13-4 to win the John Jackson Memorial Team Regatta. Georgetown placed second in the competition with a 12-5 record and Navy rounded out the top three by posting an 11-6 score. Boston College's skippers were Peter Lynn, Scott Sinks and Wade Waddell. The crew included Caroline Downey, Lizzie Bohan and Katharine Bowman.
Other members of the sailing team competed in the Rudkin Team Race over the weekend, where the Eagles finished eighth overall. Skippers for the race were Isabella Loosbrock, Sophia Reineke, Drake Lyon and Scott Rasmussen. Crew members were Emma Perry, Lily McGrath, Eliza Wright and Megan Bamford.
Week Seven
The Eagles picked up a win at the St. Mary's Interconference with a total of 85 points. The A Division sailors Isabella Loosbrock and Emma Perry notched 55 points while the B Division, comprised of Sophia Reineke and Lily McGrath, added 30.
The same weekend, other members of the squad placed third at the Vietor Trophy with a total of 35 points, falling only to Connecticut College (31) and MIT (34). The A Division sailors were Scott Rasmussen and Megan Bamford, who picked up a total of only nine points on the weekend. The B Division sailors were Thomas Walden and Lauren Seigal. Â
Meanwhile, BC finished fourth at the Ike Geiger Team Race Trophy with a 5-3 record. Boston University, Roger Williams, and Harvard tied for first with a 6-2 finish. Boston College's skippers included Peter Lynn, Colin Brego, Drake Lyon, Scott Sinks and Wade Waddell. The crew members were Elizabeth Russell, Lizzie Bohan, Eliza Wright, Tara Ferraris, Peter Lynn and Katharine Bowman.
Week Eight
BC hosted and won the BC Team Race with a 13-2 record, just edging out Harvard (12-3) for the victory. Skippers were Colin Brego, Thomas Walden, Scott Rasmussen, Drake Lyon and Jake Rizika. Crews included Elizabeth Matheson, Lauren Seigal, Eliza Wright and Megan Bamford.
Other BC sailors placed tied for third with Dartmouth at the 58th Friis Trophy Team Race. The Eagles' 8-6 finish topped Brown's 7-7 record on the weekend for the bronze. Skippers were Sophia Reineke, Isabella Loosbrock, Scott Sinks and Wade Waddell. Crews were Tara Ferraris, Peter Lynn, Lizzie Bohan, Emma Perry, Griffin Elliot and Katharine Bowman.
At the Duplin Women's Team Race, BC placed seventh overall with a 4-6 record. Isabella Loosbrock, Lily McGrath and Caroline Downey were skippers and Emma Perry, Kyla MacLennan, Caroline Rochford and Elizabeth Russell were crew members.
Week Nine
The Eagles won the Lynne Marchiano Team Race Regatta with a 19-5 record on the weekend. Yale came in second place with a close 18-6 finish, followed by Bowdoin College and Harvard who tied for third at 14-10. BC skippers were Wade Waddell, Sophia Reineke and Scott Sinks and crew members were Katharine Bowman, Lizzie Bohan, Emma Perry, Lily McGrath, Tara Ferraris and Peter Lynn.
Week Ten
The Eagles will travel to Connecticut compete in the NEISA Team Race/Fowle Trophy and the Emily Wick Trophy from April 7-8.
