Apuzzo Claims League-High Fourth Weekly Honor

Eagles' attack adds another Offensive Player of the Week nod
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College lacrosse's junior attack Sam Apuzzo claimed her league-leading fourth ACC Offensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday following a stunning individual effort last Thursday against No. 16 Syracuse. Apuzzo shared the week's offensive honors with North Carolina's Jamie Ortega, while Virginia Tech goalkeeper was Meagh Graham was the Defensive Player of the Week.

The West Babylon, New York, product almost single-handedly keyed the Eagles' final regular-season victory to ensure a perfect 17-0 regular season and the No. 1 seed in the ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship following the completion of their 7-0 conference record.

Apuzzo led all players with eight points on five goals and three assists in BC's 13-12 win over the Orange to close out the regular season. Included in her five goals were the Eagles' final three in the final 13 minutes, including the game-winning strike with 1.7 seconds remaining.

In an all-around effort, Apuzzo also registered a career-high six caused turnovers – including the game-changing SU turnover with 24 seconds remaining to give possession back to BC and set up her game-winner as time wound down. Additionally, Apuzzo collected a game-high seven draw controls to bring her season total to a school-record 100.

No. 2 Boston College (17-0, 7-0 ACC) opens play in the 2018 ACC Championship on Thursday, April 26, when the Eagles face eighth-seeded Louisville (6-10, 0-7 ACC) in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. at Duke's Koskinen Stadium in Durham, N.C. The game will be broadcast live on NESN locally and the Raycom Sports Network nationally. Outside of broadcast areas, the game can be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, which is available on WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app. Â
