HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second straight game, the Eagles scored first in the first inning. They loaded the bases on three walks and with two outs, Baldelli singled through the left side to bring in the first two runs of the game.
- Florida State answered with three in the second. Back-to-back walks put two on and Cal Raleigh drove one in with a ground-rule double. Two straight groundouts to second gave the Noles the 3-2 lead.
- BC regained the lead with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Maselli knocked a one-out double to right, Palomaki followed with a base hit and Galland drew his second walk of the day to load the bases. Cunningham smoked one to right to drive in Maselli and Palomaki. Right fielder Steven Wells' throw skipped away from catcher Raleigh, allowing Galland to score.
- An RBI double by Rhett Aplin in the third made it a 5-4 game. Metzdorf got out of a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout and groundout.
- The Noles tied the game in the fourth. A walk and double put runners on second and third and Aplin hit a sacrifice fly to right to score the tying run.
- Florida State took the lead in the fifth and chased Metzdorf from the game. A single and walk put two on and redshirt freshman LHP Joey Walsh came into the game. He gave up an RBI double to Nick Derr to give FSU the lead. A hit batter loaded the bases and Mike Salvatore grounded out to third to plate another run. Jackson Lueck followed with a single up the middle to drive in two to give FSU a 9-4 lead.
- The Seminoles added three in the sixth. Cobi Johnson hit a two-run triple before Walsh got a strikeout swinging. Reese Albert plated Johnson with a single to left. Witkowski came into the game and stranded two to leave it a 12-5 game.
- Suozzi scored twice – once in the sixth and once in the eighth – to make it a 12-7 game. He started both innings with base hits. In the sixth, he advanced to second after Maselli drew a walk and to third on a grounder by Palomaki. He scored on a wild pitch. In the eighth, Suozzi and Dempsey tallied back-to-back base hits and moved into scoring position on a groundout by Palomaki. Galland drove Suozzi in with a groundout to third.
