Sailing Wins Oberg Trophy

The Eagles notched one first-place and three top-five finishes during Week Ten and Week Eleven of spring racing.
Week Ten
The Eagles competed in the New England Team Race Championship/Fowle Trophy, finishing fourth out of 12 teams with a 10-8 record on the weekend. Yale placed first with Roger Williams and Dartmouth rounding out the top three spots. Boston College skippers for the race were Sophia Reineke, Scott Sinks and Wade Waddell. Crew members included Tara Ferraris, Lily McGrath, Emma Perry, Lizzie Bohan and Katharine Bowman.

Week Eleven
The BC sailing team won the Oberg Trophy in a close race this past weekend, finishing first out of 16 teams with 153 total points. Tufts placed second with 154 points and Roger Williams took third with 190. Division A sailors Drake Lyon and Elizabeth Russell had 49 points on the weekend. Division B sailors Scott Rasmussen and Megan Bamford added 38 points, and Division C sailors Thomas Walden and Lauren Seigal notched 66.
BC placed fourth out of 20 at the Navy Spring Regatta with a total of 249 points. Old Dominion University, College of Charleston and the U.S. Naval Academy clinched the top three spots with 216, 224 and 226 points respectively. The BC Division A squad that contributed 138 points was Scott Sinks, Lily McGrath and Tara Ferraris. The Division B sailors, Peter Lynn and Caroline Downey, added 111 points.
Meanwhile, other members of the team placed fourth out of 18 at the Thompson Trophy with 283 points. Harvard won the regatta with a decisive 190 points, while Stanford and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy placed second and third with 259 and 264 points respectively. The Eagles who competed in the A Division of the Thompson Trophy for 78 points included Wade Waddell, Katharine Bowman, Kyla MacLennan and Caroline Rochford. B Division sailors added 92 points and included Isabella Loosbrock, Emma Perry and Caroline Rochford. Division C included Colin Brego, Eliza Wright and Kyla MacLennan.

Week Twelve
The Eagles will compete in three competitions over the weekend. The team will race in the Boston Dinghy Cup (Cambridge, Mass.), the Reed Trophy (New London, Conn.) and the George Morris Trophy (Boston, Mass.) from April 21-22.
