Four Cop Women's Hockey All-New England Honors

Watts earns Player of the Year honors; Burt, Lonergan, Miano & Watts named All-New England
BOSTON – Four Boston College women's hockey players were honored by the New England Hockey Writers for their performances during the 2017-18 season, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The group will be recognized at the NEHW's annual banquet on Wednesday, April 11, at Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass.
Freshman forward Daryl Watts, the 2018 Patty Kazmaier Award winner as the national player of the year, was the NEHW's New England Player of the Year and also earned a place on the All-New England team. She is joined on the All-New England team by senior goaltender Katie Burt, sophomore forward Caitrin Lonergan and senior defenseman Toni Ann Miano.
Watts was the nation's leading scorer this season, her first in collegiate hockey. She posted 82 points in 38 games and also led the country in points per game (2.16), goals (42) and power-play goals (10). She was second goals per game (1.11), power-play points (24), power-play assists (tied, 14) and shots per game (5.66). Watts also ranked third nationally in assists (40), assists per game (1.05), shorthanded goals (tied, 3), shots (215) and hat tricks (tied, 3) and she was seventh in plus/minus (+43).
She was a CCM/AHCA First-Team All-American, the Hockey East Player of the Year and the unanimous choice as the league's Rookie of the Year. She also gained unanimous selections to the Hockey East First Team All-Stars and Hockey East All-Rookie Team. A nine-time Hockey East weekly award winner and four-time conference monthly award honoree, Watts was recognized with a national monthly honor from the American Hockey Coaches Association four times this season.
Burt finished her illustrious career this season as Hockey East's career goaltending leader in almost every category, including wins (70), shutouts (24), goals against average (1.39) and minutes played (4880:40). She finished her career tied for second in career save percentage (.938) and ninth in career saves (1,714).
The season, she led Hockey East in games played (24), games started (24), minutes (1,453:26), saves (628), shots face (674), wins (19), winning percentage (.854) and shutouts (4). She was second in save percentage (.932) by one one-thousandth of a point and goals against average (1.90) by two one-thousandths of a point.
Nationally, Burt led all goaltenders in saves (1,038) and shots faced (1,113), posting the first 1,000-save season in Boston College history. She ranked third nationally in wins with 30, her third 30-win season of her career. Burt also registered a .933 save percentage and a 1.95 goals against average while starting every game for BC this season and playing every minute of the Eagles' season (2305:23) to rank third nationally in minutes played
Burt also earned Second-Team Hockey East All-Star honors.
Lonergan was the nation's second-leading scorer, posting a career-high 75 points from 30 goals and a nation-leading 45 assists. She posted points in 35-of-38 games, including 25 multiple-point games.
A CCM/AHCA Second-Team All-American and a unanimous selection to the Hockey East First-Team All-Stars, Lonergan led the nation in power-play points (25) and power-play assists (16), while her nine power-play goals were tied for third nationally. She scored a nation-leading eight game-winning goals, and was fourth nationally in goals (30) and tied for third in hat tricks (2).
Lonergan was a Patty Kazmaier Award Top 10 Finalist, the Hockey East Player of the Month in December and a two-time HEA Player of the Week.
Miano extended the Eagles' recent tradition of CCM/AHCA All-America defensemen, pushing Boston College's run with a BC blue liner on the All-America teams to four straight years. The Second-Team All-American was also the unanimous selection as Hockey East's Best Defenseman and was a unanimous choice as a conference First-Team All-Star. Miano was one of three defensemen among the Patty Kazmaier Award Top 10 Finalists.
On the season, Miano posted a career-high 43 points from 18 goals and 25 assists, leading all Division 1 defensemen nationally in both points and goals and ranking second in assists. Her +44 plus/minus was the sixth-best mark nationally among all skaters. Miano also helped anchor both BC's power-play and penalty-kill units, the former which ranked first nationally among D1 teams.
The other members of the 2017-18 All-New England Team include: UConn goaltender Annie Belanger; Boston University defenseman Abby Cook, Northeastern defenseman Lauren Kelly and Yale defenseman Mallory Souliotis; Boston University forwards Victoria Bach and Rebecca Leslie, Providence forward Maureen Murphy and Maine forward Teresa Vanisova. Maine's Richard Reichenbach was voted the Coach of the Year.
Boston College (30-5-3) finished the 2017-18 season with its third-best record in program history, winning its fifth-straight Hockey East regular-season title with a 19-2-3 record, and claiming its third-straight Beanpot title. The Eagles advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in program history, drawing a top-four seed for the seventh time in program history.
