Eagles' trio recognized after stand-out seasons
MINNEAPOLIS – Three Boston College women's hockey players earned places on the 2017-18 American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Teams on Thursday night, which were announced at the Frozen Four Pre-Tournament Celebration.
Freshman forward Daryl Watts earned First-Team All-America honors, while senior defenseman Toni Ann Miano and sophomore forward Caitrin Lonergan were Second-Team All-America honorees.
This marks the first All-America honors for all three Eagles and ties BC's single-season high of All-America selections, matching the 2015-16 total of three. Overall, their selections push Boston College's all-time All-America nods to 15.
Watts, who is one of the Top 3 Finalists for the Patty Kazmaier Award, is the nation's leading scorer this season. She was second goals per game (1.11), power-play points (24), power-play assists (tied, 14), shots on goal (215) and shots per game (5.66). Watts also ranked third nationally in assists (40), assists per game (1.05), shorthanded goals (tied, 3) and hat tricks (tied, 3) and she was seventh in plus/minus (+43).
She won the Hockey East Player of the Year and was the unanimous choice as the league's Rookie of the Year awards. She also gained unanimous selections to the Hockey East First Team All-Stars and Hockey East All-Rookie Team. A nine-time Hockey East weekly award winner and four-time conference monthly award honoree, Watts was recognized with a national monthly honor from the AHCA four times this season.
Lonergan is the nation's second-leading scorer coming into the final weekend of play, posting a career-high 75 points from 30 goals and a nation-leading 45 assists. She posted points in 35-of-38 games, including 25 multiple-point games.

She scored a nation-leading eight game-winning goals, and is tied for fourth nationally in goals (30) and tied for third in hat tricks (2).
Lonergan was a Patty Kazmaier Award Top 10 Finalist, and was the Hockey East Player of the Month in December and a two-time HEA Player of the Week.
Miano extends the Eagles' recent tradition of All-America defensemen, pushing Boston College's run with a BC blue liner on the All-America teams to four-straight years. She was the unanimous selection as Hockey East's Best Defenseman, and was also a unanimous choice as a conference First-Team All-Star. Miano was one of three defensemen among the Patty Kazmaier Award Top 10 Finalists.
On the season, Miano posted a career-high 43 points from 18 goals and 25 assists, leading all Division 1 defensemen nationally in both points and goals and ranking second in assists. Her +44 plus/minus is the sixth-best mark nationally among all skaters. Miano also helped anchor both BC's power-play and penalty-kill units, the former which is ranked second nationally among D1 teams.
Boston College (30-5-3) finished the season with its third-best record in program history, winning its fifth-straight Hockey East regular-season title with a 19-2-3 record, and claiming its third-straight Beanpot title.
