ACC Releases Preseason Poll

BC predicted to finish fifth in the conference
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College softball team earned fifth place in the ACC Softball Predicted Order of Finish, as voted by the league's 12 head coaches.
The Eagles received 85 points in the poll, coming off a 31-22 season. BC finished third in the ACC last year with a program best 14 wins and nine losses in the conference.
Florida State, who received 11 first-place votes in the ACC coaches' predictions, ranks sixth in the ESPN.com/USA Softball polls and ranks ninth in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches. North Carolina received one first place vote and Notre Dame, a semifinalist in last year's conference tournament, received 97 points. Louisville and BC round out the top five teams.
With the addition of Duke for the 2018 season, the ACC will split into the Atlantic and Coastal Divisions. Florida State will be joined in the Atlantic Division by Boston College, Louisville, NC State, Notre Dame and Syracuse. The Coastal Division will include Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The Eagles open the season against Texas Tech, sixth-ranked Texas A&M and the University of Houston at the Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas on Feb. 9-11.
