Women's tennis drops close match to William & Mary
HANOVER, N.H. – The Boston College women's tennis team split their weekend in Hanover after falling in a close fight to William & Mary, 4-3, Saturday afternoon.

"Frustrating loss for us," said head coach Nigel Bentley. "We had a lot of momentum after the doubles point but came up a little short in singles. William & Mary played well in singles and they won more of the no ad points than we did."

The Eagles (3-2) quickly snatched up the doubles point from the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, giving BC the early advantage.

The Tribe (3-3) evened things out as Olivia Thaler took the first singles win at the No. 6 position, then pulled into an advantage as Lauren Goodman was victorious from the No. 5 position.

Freshman Natasha Irani scored the Eagles' first singles point, defeating Ekaterina Stepanova 6-3, 6-2.

No. 68 ranked Clara Tanielian won at the No. 2 position, and Natalia Perry ultimately clinched the win for William & Mary at the No. 4 spot.

Senior Asiya Dair notched another singles win for herself following the clinching of the match, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (6).

Up next, the Eagles return to action as they hit the road Feb. 16 and 17 to take on Syracuse and Yale, respectively, in Syracuse, N.Y.
