Eagles Swim Strong at Boston Winter Open

Swim and Dive record 47 career-bests to cap the regular season
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College swim and dive competed in the Boston Winter Open Feb. 9 and Feb. 10 hosted by Boston University, capping its regular season with a strong showing.

"I am thrilled about our team's performance this weekend," said head coach Michael Stephens. "It was exciting to see how much their hard work this season is paying off. The excitement, energy and happiness on deck was incredible. Congratulations to everyone who concluded their season this weekend. We're excited to continue this success this week and next at women's and men's ACC Championships."

The Eagles swam to new heights including 47 lifetime-best times in the final meet of the season for many. Swimmers selected for the conference team will head to Atlantic Coast Conference championships this coming week and did not participate in the Terrier Open.

BC and Boston University were joined by Northeastern during the two-day Open.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Caroline Quindlen won the women's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 57.03. This time earns her the title as the 4th fastest performer in the event in program history.Â
- Junior Caroline Even posted a time of 57.01 in the 100 yard butterfly – the Eagles' fastest time during the meet – and earned the spot for the fifth best performer in program history.
- Sophomore Julianna Carbone led the Eagles in the 50 (30.55) and the 100 (1:07.87) breaststrokes.
- Three lifetime bests were reached by sophomore Aileen Coyne: the 100 butterfly (59.97), the 50 freestyle (24.88) and the 200 freestyle (1:55.10).
- Senior Emily Smith posted a time of 2:07.52 in the 200 yard butterfly for the third fastest time on the season.
- Senior Fernando Saenz del Villar posted a personal best time of 51.93 in the 100 yard butterfly, which was also the top time of the meet.
- Sophomore Sami Fares secured tenth place in the top-ten all-time performers in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 57.21.
- Sophomore Lucas Saliba won the 400 yard IM and the 200 yard breaststroke with personal best times of 4:04.69 and 2:05.35, respectively. His time in the 400 yard IM ranks him as the seventh best performer in that event in program history.Â
- Sophomore Evan O'Mara posted two lifetime best swims: the 50 (21.15) and the 100 (46.42) freestyles.
- Freshman Colin O'Leary and teammate junior Denis Reznik place first and second in the 200 yard freestyle with times of 1:42.14 and 1:42.57, respectively.
- Junior Connor Futch now ranks as the seventh fastest performer in program history in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:50.81.Â

Up next: the women's team will travel to the ACC Championships, beginning Feb. 14 in Greensboro, N.C. The men will compete in the ACC Championships the following week, starting Feb. 21.
