Cotton Collects Hockey East Player of the Week Award

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior forward David Cotton has been named the Hockey East Player of the Week following his second four-point performance of the season.
The line of Cotton, Julius Mattila, and Logan Hutsko combined for three goals, eight points, and a plus-7 rating on Saturday, leading Boston College to a convincing 4-1 Hockey East victory over visiting Merrimack. Cotton led the way by factoring in every BC tally with two goals and two assists while posting a team-best five shots on goal.
Cotton's team-high eight points this season have come in just two games, as he posted a hat trick and an assist at Wisconsin on opening weekend. He and Cal Burke of Notre Dame are the only two players in the nation with a pair of four-point games.
The winger is currently third in Hockey East in goals per game and fourth in points per game. Cotton is also tied for the national lead in second period goals (4) and points (6).
Boston College continues a five-game homestand this Thursday and Friday night against Vermont at 7 p.m. in Hockey East play at Kelley Rink.
