
Terriers, No. 4 Eagles Set to Square Off in Home-and-Home Series

The regular season series concludes with a game Friday at Kelley Rink, Saturday at Walter Brown
Following Friday's game at Kelley Rink, the Eagles will be holding a postgame autograph session.
The teams squared off on Tuesday, Nov. 20, with the Eagles holding on for a 4-3 win in Chestnut Hill. Four players scored in the win for BC, with Ryan Little and Maegan Beres tallying their firsts of the year and Lindsay Agnew and Kelly Browne also finding the back of the net. Beres' tally midway through the third period stood up to be the first game-winning goal of her career. The Eagles had a 37-13 lead in shots on goal in the game, with Corinne Schroeder making 33 saves to Maddy McArthur's 10. Six of the last seven meetings between the two rivals have been decided by one goal or less. The Eagles now have a mark of 29-17-7 in the all-time series with the Terriers.
Boston College (12-4-0, 9-2-0 HEA) is coming off a tough 5-4 overtime loss at No. 5 Northeastern on Tuesday night. Makenna Newkirk scored two third period goals to give BC a one-goal lead, but Northeastern tied it late with an extra-attacker goal and then won it in overtime. Newkirk leads the team with 19 points on six goals and 13 assists. Daryl Watts has a team-best nine goals. McArthur has started 15 of the team's 16 games and owns an 11-4-0 record with a 1.53 goals against average and .931 save percentage and four shutouts.
Boston University (4-4-4, 3-4-4 HEA) played its first non-conference game of the season on Tuesday night, skating to a 5-2 win at Brown. Three Terriers each tallied a goal and an assist in that win while Schroeder made 15 saves. Jesse Compher leads BU with 19 points on seven goals and 12 helpers. Schroeder is 3-4-4 overall on the year with a .922 save percentage, 2.22 goals against average and one shutout.
The Eagles will wrap up the first semester of play next weekend with a home-and-home series against Merrimack.

BOSTON COLLEGE IN BRIEF
• The Eagles are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss at No. 5 Northeastern on Tuesday night.

DEFENSE CHIPPIN' IN
• In addition to help Boston College sit fourth in the country in goals against per game (1.50), the Eagles' defensive corps is first in the nation in points (50) and points per game (3.12).
• The Eagles have three players in Megan Keller, Cayla Barnes and Grace Bizal that sit in the top 10 in the country in defensemen scoring, the most of any team ... Keller (6-11-17) leads all blue liners in points while Barnes (3-11-14) is tied for fourth and Bizal (2-9-11) is tied for seventh.
• Barnes is the only rookie blue liner to crack the top 10.
• BC defensemen have scored 12 goals, second overall, and have scored seven power-play goals, which ties for first.
• Blue liners have scored four game-winning goals for BC, tied for most in the nation.
• The BC defense has chipped in on 23% of the squad's goals (12/52), 41% of the assists (38/92) and 35% of the overall points (50/144).
IT'S WORTH NOTING
• Freshman Kelly Browne is second amongst conference rookies in faceoff wins with 138 (sixth overall).
• Caitrin Lonergan's .606 face-off winning percentage is eighth in the league.
• Daryl Watts is fourth in Hockey East with an average of 4.81 shots on goal per game while Lonergan is fifth with an average of 4.29.
• Cayla Barnes leads BC and sits fourth in the conference with 25 blocks.
• Makenna Newkirk's 21 blocks is tied for the league lead among forwards and 11th overall in the country.
SHOTS, SHOTS AND MORE SHOTS
• In back-to-back games against Holy Cross (Nov. 24) and Northeastern (Nov. 27), BC had 50 shots on goal.
• It was the first time since Jan. 15-16, 2016 that the Eagles recorded 50+ shot attempts in back-to-back games.
• BC recorded 55 shots on goal against Merrimack in two consecutive contests.
• The Eagles have recorded 50+ shots on goal in three games this season, the most since doing it 10 times in that 2015-16 season.
BARROW BATTENS DOWN THE HATCHES
• In her first career start on Nov. 24 at Holy Cross, Molly Barrow made 16 saves for the shutout win.
• The junior is the third BC goaltender in the modern NCAA era (2000-01 season) to earn a shutout in her first career start.
• Lisa Davis '05 stopped seven shots in her first career start for a 3-0 win over Vermont.
• Alison Quandt '06 made eight stops in her first career start in a 6-0 win against RPI on Nov. 17, 2002.
• Additionally, Molly Schaus '11 did it in her second career start, making 23 saves in a 6-0 blanking of Quinnipiac on Oct. 7, 2006.
