November 29, 2018 | Men's Basketball
CJ Felder, Jay Heath, Julian Rishwain, and Kamari Williams will continue their academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Head coach Jim Christian has announced that four future men's basketball student-athletes - CJ Felder, Jay Heath, Julian Rishwain, and Kamari Williams - have signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their academic and athletic endeavors at Boston College.
"We are thrilled to announce this recruiting class and welcome these four young men - CJ, Jay, Julian, and Kamari - into the Boston College men's basketball program," said Christian. "They are outstanding players and great people. We welcome them and their families into our BC family and know they will all have bright futures."
Calvin (CJ) Felder
Forward - 6-7 - 230 - Sumter, S.C. / Sumter
"CJ is as physically gifted as any player we have recruited in our time at Boston College. He is young for his grade - 16 years old - and is already 6-7, 230 lbs. He possesses great footwork in the low post and has the ability to step to the perimeter and consistently make jump shots. He plays with a competitive edge on both ends of the floor and brings a toughness that spreads to his teammates. His physical gifts are off the charts for a young man of his age - he will run and jump with the very best in the ACC. CJ comes from a great family that has instilled great moral, academic, and athletic values." Â
What others are saying about Felder
"We are excited that Calvin will be playing on the next level in the ACC at Boston College. Coach Christian, Coach Spinelli, and the staff have done an amazing job recruiting Calvin. They are getting a special talent. Calvin is not your prototypical big - he is a very efficient ball handler, shoots the ball from all levels, and is a freakish athletic. We expect Calvin will have a prosperous career at Boston College." — Shawn Jones, head coach, Sumter H.S.Â
"Boston College has signed another 'Carolina Gem' in CJ Felder. He made the super six playing for the Upward Stars in our 2018 Tournament of Champions last May. I thought he was the most competitive and athletic player at the event and we had 250 teams. Felder is a true court warrior with the strength, aggressiveness, and ability to play both forward positions. In my opinion, he will join the ranks of other outstanding BC recruits from the Carolinas. I have him rated in my early season Top 60 seniors and have nominated him for McDonald's All-American honors." — Bob Gibbons, All Star Recruiting Analyst
Jay Heath
Guard - 6-3 - 175 - Washington, D.C. / Woodrow Wilson
"Jay was our first commitment in the recruiting class. He is a top notch young man from a great family. His work ethic, competitive spirit, and extraordinary desire to win will make an immediate positive impact on our program. Jay is a relentless defender, can score at all three levels, and plays every possession like it is his last. You can tell he has been well-coached throughout his development and has been a champion in one of the toughest leagues in the country. Jay is versatile and skilled enough to play both guard positions and we expect him to make a major impact next season."
What others are saying about Heath
"In my eyes, Boston College is getting a diamond in the rough. Jay is an absolutely phenomenal scorer and he's becoming a floor general. The world has already been put on notice but now he is back, ready to go, and poised for another breakout season." — Angelo Hernandez, head coach, Woodrow Wilson H.S.
"Jay is one of the best kids I've ever been around. Not only is he a great person, but he also is one of the fiercest competitors when he steps on the court. I know Jay will do well at the next level because of his sheer hunger to succeed and willingness to help his peers along the way. " - Corey Henry, head coach, Team Melo AAU
"Jay Heath is one of the fiercest competitors I have evaluated: a relentless defender, underrated rebounder & playmaker, and adept paint-getter. Heath is a winner who is not afraid of big moments." — Adam Ayalew, recruiting analyst, prephoops.com
Julian Rishwain
Guard - 6-5 - 190 - Sherman Oaks, Calif. / Notre Dame
"Julian is one of the best high school long-range shooters in the country. He brings a competitive, underdog spirit to the court, along with a high basketball IQ and an exceptional work ethic. He possesses great character and the willingness to make sacrifices to achieve his goals. Basketball runs in his blood and with continued growth, added strength, and continued skills development, I believe Julian will develop into an exciting all-around player that will contribute to the winning culture at Boston College."
What others are saying about Rishwain
"Julian Rishwain is a highly skilled ultra-competitor that thrives in big moments and against great competition. Julian is the kind of player that will create his own shot at one end and take a charge on the other end. He is a good rebounder for his size and is capable of guarding either guard spot. His teammates love him for his selfless style of play on the court and his jovial, humorous nature off-the-court. As he matures physically, Julian can be an All-ACC level guard that can impact the game at the highest level on both ends of the floor. " - Matt Sergeant, head coach, Notre Dame H.S.
"Julian is a tremendous young man with a phenomenal work ethic and character. He is one of the best shooters in the country. He will do great things at Boston College." — Ryan Silver, head coach, West coast Elite
"As his fantastic performance at last July's Las Vegas Fab 48 displayed, Julian is one of the best shooters and biggest sleepers in the nation." — Dinos Trigonis, head coach, Belmont Shore Basketball Club
Kamari Williams
Forward - 6-7 - 200 - Sandy Spring, Md. / St. Andrew's Episcopal
"One of our major areas of emphasis on the recruiting trail was 3-point shooting and Kamari can consistently make long-range shots. He is a lengthy, athletic, rangy wing player who possesses the ability to make shots from anywhere on the court. Not only can he score, but he has also shown the ability to make his teammates better and defend multiple positions. With added strength and conditioning, Kamari will make a major impact at Boston College and in the ACC. His father, Walt, was a late bloomer and enjoyed an All-American college career and spent more than a decade in the NBA. He has provided Kamari with the blueprint to basketball success. Kamari is a high character individual from a great family and he checks all of the boxes that we continue to look for in attracting the very best student-athletes to our program."
What others are saying about Williams
"Kamari is extremely versatile at 6 foot 8 with his length. He shoots the ball extremely well and is also able to attack the basket. He is pretty athletic and a fairly good rebounder and he uses his length to defend multiple positions at a high level. Kamari's best years are ahead of him. I look froward to following his career at Boston College." — Kevin Jones, head coach, St. Andrew's Episcopal School
"You have to like the long-term potential in Kamari Williams. On any given night, he has shown the ability to dominate a game on defense with his length and on offense with his pure shot making ability." — Adam Ayalew, recruiting analyst, prephoops.com
"I am thrilled that Kamari has decided to play at Boston College. Boston College is great place to get both an unbelievable education and an amazing basketball experience. The coaching staff is getting a very skilled and athletic player who is just scratching the surface of his potential. Most importantly, he's just a great kid who I loved coaching. I watched him improve, game-by-game, practice-by-practice. I am certain that the coaching staff is going to make sure that Kamari continues to grow as a student-athlete." — Byron Mouton, president and head coach, 6th Man Sports
