Emma Guy Notches Career-High 22 Points In Eagles Victory

Eagles Improve to 2-0 with, 89-57, win over Saint Peter's
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Â Junior Emma Guy scored a career-high 22Â points as Boston College defeated Saint Peter's, 89-57, at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon. BC is now 2-0 and will host Holy Cross on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the annual Field Trip Day.

Guy was one of four Eagles to score in double figures. The Eagles forward played 21 minutes, shot 11-for-13 from the floor, with eight rebounds, along with a steal and block.

Junior forward Georgia Pineau pitched in with her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while freshman Taylor Soule added 16 points, four boards and two blocks. Freshman Makayla Dickens filled the stat line with 13 points, six assists, four steals and eight rebounds.

BC took an early 7-4 lead but Saint Peter's fought back and cut the lead to just three with 2:22 left in the first quarter. A five-point run by Soule pushed the Eagles lead to 20-12 with 1:08 to play. Saint Peter's would go on a mini-run as BC's lead was just seven points after the first quarter, 23-16.

The Eagles held Saint Peter's scoreless in the first four minutes of the quarter as a layup by Dickens extended the lead, 30-16. Saint Peter's broke the drought at 6:06 in the quarter but the Eagles responded with a 13-4 run to extend the lead to 22 points. Soule had 10 of her points in the second quarter.
BC held a 44-31 halftime lead and that is the closest Saint Peter's would get.

The second half, Boston College continued to look for the fast break and push the ball up court. Guy and Dickens combined for 17 points as BC led, 68-43, after three quarters.

BC outscored Saint Peter's, 21-14, in the final quarter as Guy picked eight points on four-for-four shooting from the floor.

- Boston College won the battle of the boards, 62-33. The last time BC tallied 60 or more rebounds in a game was Jan. 15, 2009 vs. Wake Forest. BC's single game program record is 69 held by the 1993-94 team vs. Holy Cross.
- The Eagles had 24 assists on 36 field goals.
- This was new head coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee's Conte Forum debut.
- Junior Georgia Pineau notched her fifth career double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds). She had five offensive rebounds.
- Despite scoring only two points, junior Taylor Ortlepp had a career-high seven rebounds along with seven assists.
- BC shot 47.4 percent from the floor for the game, had 13 steals and 24 assists.
- Boston College is now 29-13 in home openers.
