Eagles Win New England Championship

BC claims team title with 27 points
JAMAICA PLAIN, Mass. – The Boston College women's cross country team claimed its second team title of the season, winning the New England Championship on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park led by freshman Fian Sullivan Sweeney.

BC's 27 points were good for the overall title while MIT came second with 78 points and Quinnipiac rounded out the top three with 122 points.
Â
Tufts senior Natalie Bettez won the women's individual title with her time of 17:57.9.

Sullivan Sweeney placed second overall in the 168-runner field with a time of 18:01.9 and was the first Eagle to cross the line. BC went three-in-a-row as senior Delia Hayes finished third overall with a personal-best time of 18:04.4 and junior Paige Duca's time of 18:05.8 was good for fourth.

Freshman Anna Oeser was the fourth BC runner to finish, placing seventh with a time of 18:15.2, while freshman Nicole Clermont rounded out the scored runners in 11th, crossing the finish line at 18:19.6.

The Eagles claimed their second team title of the season, opening the year with an overall win at the Nassaney Invitational on Sept. 8.

BC also claimed the women's sub varsity title with 17 points, finishing five runners in the top-six. Junior Jessica Martin won the race with a time of 18:47.3.
