The sailing team competed for three trophies, earning second, third and seventh place finishes
The Boston College sailing team participated in three races over the past weekend, highlighted by a second place finish for the Victorian Urn Trophy. The team also earned a third place finish for the Nickerson Trophy and a seventh place finish for the 78th Professor Schell Trophy.Â

Victorian Urn Trophy

Hosted by Bowdoin, Brown University took home the Victorian Urn Trophy. The Eagles came in just behind, totaling 123 points over the competition. The Eagles' A division of sailors Sophia Reineke and Tara Ferraris raced to first, third, sixth, two firsts, second, third, another two firsts, fifth, second, 11th and another fifth before a disqualification in the 14th race. The B division – Isabella Loosbrock and Emma Perry - placed third, fourth, fourth, first, second, 11th, 10th, eighth, fifth, first twice, fourth, second and eighth.Â

Tufts earned first place for the Nickerson Trophy as the Eagles placed third with 82 total points. Each division earned an equal 41 points over the contest. The A division was skippered by Robert Hunter, joined by Declan McGranahan for races 1-6 before Nicole Moeder took over for 7-9. The pairs raced to eighth, fourth, 10th, fifth, third, fourth, fourth, second and topped off with a first-place finish. The B division earned fourth, fifth, third, sixth, fourth, fifth, sixth, sixth and finished with a second-place final race. The B division, skippered by Jack DeNatale and joined by Laura Ferraris and Mikayla Mathieu, earned second overall for their division.

The Eagles finished with an overall seventh place, earning 210 points. Yale took home the trophy, totaling 147 points for the competition. Wade Waddell and Katharine Bowman paired up for the A division, racing to sixth, eighth, sixth, sixth, fifth, 14th, seventh, 10th, fifth, ninth, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth place finishes for 103 points. Peter Lynn and Lauren Seigel paired up for the B division and finished with seventh, second, ninth, 13th, fourth, ninth, 10th, 17th, eighth, second, fourth, 11th, third and eighth place finishes for 107 points.Â

On deck for the Eagles is the Singlehanded National Championship set for November 3-4. The championship contest is the final contest for the sailing team for the 2018 fall season.Â
