Eagles Fall in ACC First Round at NC State
October 31, 2018 | Men's Soccer
BC equalized early in the second half but the Wolfpack scored twice more for a 3-1 1in.
RALEIGH, N.C. – The Boston College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday night, falling at NC State in the first round of the ACC Tournament. The Eagles battled back to equalize early in the second half on a goal from Abe Bibas but ultimately fell, 3-1.
The No. 8 seeded Wolfpack took just 10 minutes to get on the board, using a free-kick to take a 1-0 lead. After taking a few minutes to refocus, the Eagles began to generate some chances.
Trevor Davock worked on the left wing to feed Kristofer Konradsson for a long look that got blocked and Joshua Forbes fed another ball across the goal mouth. No. 9 seeded BC got a couple more looks before halftime on a Konradsson 30-yard free kick and Heidar Aegisson's own blocked shot but couldn't cash in before the break.
NC State nearly made it 2-0 minutes into the first half – pouncing on a rebound from an Antonio Chavez Borrelli save – but Bibas made a goal line block.
Bibas also got to work on the other end and tied the game up, 1-1, in the 62nd minute with his second goal of the season. BC kept pressuring for another to take the lead but couldn't find it. The Wolfpack, though, took just 10 minutes to take back the lead for good on a goal by David Loera. The hosts then padded the lead with two minutes to play to give the game its final 3-1 score.
Chavez Borrelli finished with four saves while Leon Kropf had one for the Wolfpack. NC State had the edge in shots (14-7), shots on goal (7-2). Both teams earned two corners.
