NC State Awaits BC as Postseason Play Begins

The Eagles topped the Wolfpack, 1-0, in the regular season meeting in Newton.
Wednesday's game is a rematch of a regular season contest in Newton on Oct. 5. In that game, Boston College (4-7-4, 2-5-1 ACC) rode a second-half goal from Simon Enstrom to a 1-0 win over then No. 17 NC State (8-5-3, 2-4-2 ACC). It was BC's second consecutive win against the Wolfpack and also the 10th consecutive game in the series that was decided by one goal or less. NC State and BC have met once before in the conference tournament, with the Wolfpack winning a 1-0 second round contest in Newton on Nov. 12, 2009.
The winner of Wednesday night's contest will advance to meet the top seed in Wake Forest on Sunday, Nov. 4 in Winston-Salem.

ABOUT NC STATE
• NC State ended the regular season at Clemson on Oct. 27, falling 3-0 to the Tigers.
• The team, which opened the season with four consecutive wins, is 2-2-1 in the last five games and 3-4-3 in the last 10.
• Gabriel Machado (4G, 2A) and David Loera (2G, 6A) are tied for the team lead in points ... there are 12 players with at least one point for NC State and 10 with at least one goal.
• NC State has been ranked as high as fourth in the country this season. The team was picked to finish fourth in the ACC Atlantic Division and eighth of 12 teams overall according to the preseason coaches' poll.
• This is the second consecutive year and second time in program history that the Wolfpack is hosting a first around ACC Tournament match.
THE SERIES vs. NC STATE
• The Eagles enter Wednesday night's meeting with the Wolfpack – the 17th in the series – with an edge of 8-5-3 in the all-time series.
• NC State and BC have met once before in the conference tournament ... the Wolfpack won a 1-0 second round contest in Newton on Nov. 12, 2009.
• BC holds a mark of 6-0-2 in Newton after topping the Wolfpack, 1-0, back on Oct. 5.
• Simon Enstrom scored a 61st minute goal to lift BC to a win over then No. 17 NC State ... it was the 10th consecutive game in the series decided by one goal or less.
• On Oct. 29, 2016, Trevor Davock registered a hat trick for the Eagles in a 5-4 overtime win in Newton.
• The squads first met in 2004, a non-conference game in Newton a year before the Eagles joined the ACC, and played to a 0-0 stalemate.
• Four of the last five meetings between the teams have gone to at least one overtime, including a 0-0- draw in Raleigh last year.
A WIN OVER NC STATE WOULD . . .
• Bump BC to 5-7-4 overall and 9-5-3 in the all-time series.
• Give the Eagles a three-game unbeaten streak against the Wolfpack.
• Give BC it's first road win since the season opener at Quinnipiac on Aug. 24.
LAST TIME OUT
• Boston College wrapped up the regular season on Oct. 26 at then No. 20 Syracuse, battling to a 0-0 tie with the Orange.
• Antonio Chavez Borrelli finished with eight saves, his second-highest total of the season.
• Trevor Davock led BC with three shot attempts while he, Simon Enstrom and Kristofer Konradsson each landed one on target.
• The tie marked BC's first ACC road point of the season.
CLOSE ENCOUNTERS
• Fourteen of BC's 15 regular season games this season were decided by one goal or less.
• The first 12 games of 2018 were decided by one goal or less, the longest such streak to open a season on record for the program.
• In the 2016 season, 14 of BC's 21 games were decided by one goal or less.
