Eagles Take on Cavaliers in ACC First Round

The field hockey team takes on No. 16 Virginia for the first contest of ACC Championships
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team is set to take on No. 16 Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament on November 1 with an 11 a.m. contest. The matchup will be held at Karen Shelton Stadium on the University of North Carolina campus.

The Eagles wrapped up their regular season with a split week ranked intra-city teams: a 1-0 loss on the road at No. 6 Harvard on Thursday and a 1-0 win over No. 24 Boston University on Sunday to finalize a 10-8 overall regular season record.Â

The most recent Atlantic Coast Conference contest that the Eagles have seen was a 2-1 loss at No. 3 Duke. The loss to the Blue Devils finalized a 2-4 regular-season conference record for BC, a two-win improvement from the 2017 season.Â

Virginia was the second ACC opponent that the Eagles matched up with during the regular season back on September 21 as Boston College finished on top with a 2-0 shutout win. The contest was the second and last conference win for the Eagles for the season.Â

The winner of Thursday's first round game is set to face undefeated No. 1 North Carolina. North Carolina showed the Eagles their only loss of the season by more than one goal.Â
