Eagles Begin Season Hosting New England Catholic Invitational

The swim and dive team hosts the annual invitational meet this weekend
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College swimming and diving team is set to host the annual New England Catholic Invitational Meet this weekend, Oct. 5-6. This meet will mark the start of the 2018-2019 season as the Eagles officially compete for the first time this academic year.
At last year's Invitational, the Eagles had a standout weekend -- taking first overall with 17 gold, 15 silver, and 10 bronze places, totaling a score of 1461 with 526.2 points. Now-senior Taylor Cortens secured three golds, the most out of a single swimmer throughout the meet. Michael Hinton and Colin O'Leary each earned two gold and one silver over the weekend. The Eagles were responsible for 16 of the top-20 swims over the weekend. Competing against BC at the Invitational last year was Providence, Holy Cross, Fairfield, Saint Francis, Merrimack and Assumption.
For this year's meet, Fairfield, Holy Cross and Providence will have both men's and women's competitors in attendance. Assumption, Merrimack and St. Francis will have women's representatives.
Friday's competition begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Flynn Recreation Complex pool. Saturday has a 9:30 a.m. start time, with the diving competition beginning no earlier than 12:30 p.m. Saturday's afternoon swim session begins at 2:30 p.m.
