Dillon Named a Maxwell Award Semifinalist

BC running back one of 20 semifinalists.
PHILADELPHIA – Boston College sophomore running back AJ Dillon was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award by the Maxwell Football Club on Monday. Twenty semifinalists were identified for the 82nd Maxwell Award, which honors the Collegiate Player of the Year.

Dillon, who is fourth in the nation with 133.5 rushing yards per game, was on the Maxwell Award Watch List coming out of preseason. He has rushed for 801 yards and seven touchdowns on the season. Dillon, who missed two games due to an ankle injury, returned to the field for 32 carries, 149 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles downed No. 25 Miami on Friday night. The game marked his 11th 100-yard rushing total in just 19 career games; only 13 of which have been starts.

Over his career, BC is averaging 36.0 points per game in the 13 contests started by Dillon. Beginning with his first career start at Louisville (Oct. 14, 2017), he leads the country with 158.2 rushing yards per game.

Voted the ACC Preseason Player of the Year, Dillon is one of two players representing the league on the Maxwell's semifinalist roster. He is joined by Clemson running back Travis Etienne.

Boston College is in action this week at Virginia Tech for a 3:45 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 3. The game will be televised by Raycom Sports (My-38 locally) and aired across the BC IMG Sports Network, including 93.7 WEEI.
