October 16, 2018 | Men's Basketball
All proceeds to benefit Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College will host Seton Hall in an open-door charity scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 27. Tipoff is set for noon.  Â
Volunteers will be collecting donations at the entrances of Conte Forum and all proceeds will be donated to the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Raleigh. This charity scrimmage will be the first and only chance to see the Eagles men's basketball squad prior to the Nov. 6 regular season opener against Milwaukee.
BC returns four starters, including Ky Bowman - The Nation's Most Dynamic Guard. The junior point guard - recently named to the national watch list for the Bob Cousy Award - was the only player in the country in 2017-18 to average at least 17.6 points; 6.8 rebounds; 4.7 assists per game. Among all returning players in the ACC in 2018-19, Bowman ranks second in scoring, fifth in rebounding, and fourth in assists.
Jordan Chatman - one of the top shooters in the nation - returns for his final season at the Heights. The 6-5 senior is one of 10 active players to have made at least 145 3-pointers and connect on better than 40% of his attempts over the past two seasons.
Nik Popovic and Steffon Mitchell also to the BC front court in 2018-19. The 6-10 Popovic posted career-highs in scoring (9.9), rebounding (6.2), and assists (1.3) and saw his FT% jump from 53.1% to 71.4% last season. Mitchell became the first freshman in program history to average better than 8.0 rebounds per game, finishing the season ranked seventh in the ACC (8.3 rpg). He led the #BCEagles in at least one statistical category in 31 of his 34 games played.
Seton Hall makes a preseason visit to Chestnut Hill for the second consecutive season. Last year, the two teams played a closed-door scrimmage. The Pirates have made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament, posting three consecutive 20-win seasons. The Hall, under the guidance of ninth-year head coach Kevin Willard, returns the 2018 Big East Most Improved Player of the Year Myles Powell, as well as senior Michael Nzei.
