Demon Deacons use 75th minute for 2-1 win
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Boston College men's soccer team got an equalizer from Trevor Davock early in the second half but No. 2 Wake Forest got a game-winning goal in the 75th minute and held on for a 2-1 win at Spry Stadium on Friday night.
BC held an 18-7 edge in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles earned eight corners to four for the Demon Deacons in the ACC match.
The Eagles came out flying and pressured the Demon Deacons' defense. In the fifth minute, Lasse Lehmann worked to feed Simon Enstrom for a shot that Andreu Mundet charged out to cut off. Ten minutes later, Enstrom forced another save on a header and Heidar Aegisson's header off a corner seconds later went high.
The battle turned heated with 15 minutes remaining in the first half and it resulted in 10-on-10 soccer. After a scuffle, the referee issued double red cards and the BC's Joshua Forbes and Wake Forest's Bruno Lapa were sent to the locker room.
But despite outshooting Wake Forest, 6-4, and creating chances, the Eagles would be trailing 1-0 at the half after a 43rd minute goal from Michael DeShields. Enstrom took just two minutes to fire off a good look to start the second – though Mundet was up to the task. With the momentum early thanks to Enstrom's work, it took BC just 10 minutes to equalize.
Davock's first of the season made it a 1-1 game in the 55th minute – and the Eagles kept looking to go ahead. It would be Wake Forest, though, that would take a 2-1 lead one a one-timer goal from Aristotle Zarris.
The Eagles kept fighting and Kristofer Konradsson's look from distance a minute after the goal nearly tied it. Antonio Chavez Borrelli's point-blank save with nine minutes to play kept BC in reach. With seven minutes to play, DeShields made a goal line save on a header from Abe Bibas.
Chavez Borrelli finished with one save while Mundet had five.
Boston College returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to face the University of Connecticut. The non-conference game will kick off at 7 p.m.

• 55' | Davock carried the ball down the right flank into the box before sliding a pass to Aegisson on the right. Aegisson's shot from the six was saved by Mundet but the rebound popped back into the middle of the box where Davock one-timed it into the top left corner of the net.
