Burt Honored as Hockey East Player of the Week

Eagles’ senior goaltender recognized after record-setting
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's hockey senior goaltender Katie Burt earned Hockey East's Warrior Player of the Week award from the conference on Monday. The Lynn, Mass., product went 2-0-0 in goal last week as the third-ranked Eagles swept No. 10 Providence in a home-and-home series.
In Friday's home game at Kelley Rink, Burt posted her third shutout of the season with a 25-save effort in the Eagles' 5-0 win over the Friars.
Saturday on the road at Schneider Arena, Burt made 29 saves – including 15 in the second period – and backed the Eagles to a 3-2 win. Midway through the second period, Burt set the Hockey East career minutes played record, passing the mark of 4673:19 former BC goaltender Molly Schaus '11. Burt now has played 4702:14 in league action.
Additionally, her two victories this weekend pushed her career total to 115, setting a new NCAA record for career victories.
For the week, Burt posted a 1.00 goals against average and a .964 save percentage, stopping 54-of-56 shots she faced from the 10th-ranked Friars.
This is Burt's second Hockey East player of the week award of the year and the fourth of her career. Overall, she's earned 16 conference weekly honors in her four seasons at The Heights
No. 3 Boston College returns to the ice next on Tuesday, Feb. 6, when the Eagles host Northeastern in the first round of the 40th Women's Beanpot at Kelley Rink. Faceoff for the BC-NU game is set for 8 p.m., while Boston University and Harvard will meet in the first game at 5 p.m. All games of the 2018 Women's Beanpot will be played at the Eagles' Kelley Rink.
