Demon Deacons Sweep Eagles

Sophie West and Amaka Chukwujekwu lead BC in loss to Wake Forest.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Sophomore Sophie West and freshman Amaka Chukwujekwu paced the Boston College volleyball team with 7.5 points apiece in loss against Wake Forest Friday night.
The Eagles trailed in the first set, but were able to hold the Demon Deacons to match point for six rallies before Wake Forest took the first set, 24-22. After finding a 7-0 run, Wake Forest was victorious in the second after BC could not catch back up. The Eagles almost made a comeback in the third set, but could not secure the final two points.
Sophomore Cat Balido registered the second highest points for the Eagles with seven off of team-high six kills, while sophomore Jane DeJarld notched 13 assists, another team high.
Wake Forest's Caroline Kuhn led the match with 14 points and 11 kills. Madeline Holt had a match-high 30 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
The teams opened the match trading point until Wake Forest found a 6-1 run to pull into the lead. At 24-16, the Eagles held the Demon Deacons at match points for six rallies, but Wake Forest ultimately took the set, 25-22.
SET 2
Wake Forest began this set with a service error, opening the scoreboard for BC. After being tied at 4-all, Wake Forest hit a 7-0 run for the lead they kept to win the second set, 25-17.
SET 3
The Demon Deacons commenced the set on a 5-0 run, but the Eagles found their own 5-0 run later on to even up scoring. At 22-all, Wake Forest secured the last two points, the set, 25-22, and the match.

Up next: Boston College will go from Winston-Salem to Durham, N.C. to face off against Duke on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
