
Eagles Fell in Five Sets

Northeastern forced a fifth set and the Eagles fell.
BOSTON, Mass. – Boston College volleyball fell in five sets to Northeastern Saturday night after the Huskies chartered a significant comeback.
The Eagles took the first two sets quickly, 25-20 and 27-25, but the Huskies pushed the fifth set and outlasted BC. Graduate student Lynn Braakhuis led the Eagles with 16 points and 15 kills, followed by sophomore Cat Balido with 14 points and 13 kills.
The Huskies were paced by sophomore Amy Underdown with 24.5 point from 20 kills and three assists, while adding match-high 25 digs.
Up next: Boston College tackles its first ACC competition of the season at Syracuse on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

BC HIGHLIGHTS
- Braakhuis recorded six kills in the first set alone, a set high, giving her a .600 and six points.
- Jill Strockis recorded set-high six digs in the fourth set.
- McKenna Goss hit a .310 average, a team high, off of 10 kills.
- Jane DeJarld matched game-high 26 assists.
- Four players made 10 or more digs: DeJarld (15), Braakhuis (16), Camille Oemcke (10) and Jill Strockis (17).
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Calvete kicked off the match with a kill, opening the scoreboard. The teams traded points until a kill from Braakhuis sparked a 4-1 run and a slight lead for the Eagles. BC really began to pull away following an attack error from Northeastern, and won the set, 25-20.
SET 2
The Eagles commenced the set with the lead, really hit their stride with an 8-1 run and ultimately took the set, 27-25, after the Huskies caught up.
SET 3
BC opened the set with a 3-0 lead, but Northeastern made a comeback and took the lead at 15-14. The Huskies held the lead until the end of the set, winning 25-21.
SET 4
At 2-all, the Eagles rode a 5-1 run to grab the lead. The Huskies overcame the deficit and the team traded points up until the end. Though the Eagles found their way to match point, it was the Huskies that came out victorious, 26-24.
SET 5
A Balido kill opened the last set, but the sides were evenly matched. NU pulled ahead following a few Eagle errors. The Huskies kept this lead and won the set, 15-10, and the match.
