
Berman Scores Game-Winner against St. John’s

Eagles improve to 6-3-0
NEWTON, Mass. – Senior midfielder Lauren Berman scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute as Boston College defeated non-conference foe, St. John's, 1-0, on Thursday evening.
Both teams went scoreless in the first half as the Eagles and the Red Storm each had four shots on goal.
In the second half, the Eagle out-shot the Red Storm, 9-3.
In the 84th minute, Berman converted her fifth goal of the season off an assist by junior defender Elysa Virella.
Junior goalkeeper Alexis Bryant had four saves in her third shutout of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College had three chances on goal in the first half, two from Berman and one from freshman midfielder Sam Coffey.
- St. John's best shot on goal came in the 41st minute off the foot of Madeline McCracken. The Red Storm junior sent a soft ball into the box which skidded off the turf. Bryant dove to her right and punch the shot wide to keep the game knotted at 0-0.
- In the 55th minute of the game, Coffey threaded through the Red Storm defenders and sent sophomore forward Olivia Vaughn into the box. Vaughn's shot sailed high over the crossbar.
- With 16 minutes to go in the match BC had a great chance as St. John's dropped Jenna Bike just outside the box. The Eagles had a free kick from about 21 yards out. Freshman defender Mijke Roelfsema's free kick just sailed high.
- With ten minutes remaining in the game, Vaughn headed the ball off a cross from sophomore forward Jenna Bike but was easily handled by the St. John's keeper.
- GOAL: Boston College 1, St. John's 0 – 84th minute: Elysa Virella took the throw in and it bounced into the middle of the box. Berman came running in from the far side and side-kicked the ball to the top left corner of the net from the ten yard line with six minutes to play in the match.

- Senior defender Madison Kenny made her third straight start on defense.
- The goal was Lauren Berman's fifth goal of the season and third GWG, a new single season career high for the EAgles midfielder.
- The 1-0 win was the second consecutive shutout for the Eagles.
- Junior goalkeeper Alexis Bryant had four saves in her second consecutive shutout. She now has three this season.
