Volleyball forced a fifth set after being down 2-0, but fell in the end.
BOSTON, Mass. – Boston College volleyball overcame a 2-0 match deficit, only to be thwarted in the fifth set by Harvard.

Sophomore Cat Balido held match-high 22.5 points off of 18 kills. She and Graduate student Lynn Braakhuis, who had 20 points, led the match and the team. Balido and Braakhuis served three and two aces, respectively. Sophomore Jill Strockis added another two aces, as well as match-high 15 digs.

Harvard was paced by Maclaine Fields' 19.5 points and 15 kills. She held the highest hitting average of the match at .500.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1
Braakhuis got the ball rolling with a service ace to open the scoreboard. The Eagles trailed to begin, but a kill from freshman Clare Naughton sparked a 5-1 run. Harvard pulled away and pulled out the first set win, 24-16.

SET 2
The teams traded points, but the Crimson broke away and ran with the lead all the way to the end, winning the set, 25-17.

SET 3
The Eagles found a quick lead this set. BC then made a 9-3 run, furthering its advantage. Harvard trailed by as many as eight points. As the set continued, Harvard caught up to tie it at 24-all. A kill from Braakhuis and a big block from McKenna Goss and Amaka Chekwujekwu secured the set, 26-25, and cut Harvard's lead.

The teams traded points to begin, but BC found a 9-2 run capping out at 21-15. An error from Harvard eliminated their advantage. The Eagles won the fourth set, 25-23.

Harvard began the set with a slight lead that BC couldn't overturn. Harvard took the set, 15-10, and the match.
