BC’s four first-team selections tops the Northeast list.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Five Boston College lacrosse players earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Northeast honors, announced by the IWLCA on Friday. The five players earning spots on the all-region team is a program record.
Sam Apuzzo, Kate Weeks, Kenzie Kent and Elizabeth Miller were each named to the first team, which is a program best. The four selections were also the most by a single team in the Northeast region, followed by Syracuse, UMass and Cornell with three.
The trio of Apuzzo, Weeks and Kent have been the engine of the Eagles' offense and have combined for 209 points this season, nearly half of all BC's scoring (423).
On the defensive side of the ball, Miller has been at the epicenter, assisting in shutting down some of the nation's top scorers. She leads the Eagles with 36 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.
Earning second-team honors, Dempsey Arsenault has been the definition of a two-way player for the Eagles all season. Arsenault is ranked second on the Eagles in draw controls (41) and ground balls (35), while also recording 21 points. She also ranks third on the team with 18 caused turnovers. Â
These Eagles are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Wednesday, May 17. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3, 2017 at the Hunt Valley Inn in Hunt Valley, Md.
