BC HIGHLIGHTS
- The Boston College women's track and field team brought a close to the regular season of its 2017 outdoor track and field campaign at the Skyhawk Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Stonehill College.
- The Eagles took the overall victory in the meet, putting up a grand total of 217 points on the day. Rhode Island, Holy Cross, Stonehill and Boston University rounded out the top five with scores of 163, 89.5, 83 and 44.5, respectively.
- Junior Isabelle Kennedy posted one of many highlight performances during the competition for the Eagles. In the 3K, Kennedy was victorious with her time of 9:46.30, which also broke the facility record in the event. In the same event, juniors Ashbrook Gwinn (10:38.14) and Clarissa Modde (10:40.26) took home third and fourth place, respectively, for the Eagles.
- Junor Molly McCabe also notched a facility record in the 800m with her time of 2:08.01. Her time was also her best-ever on an outdoor track and will qualify her for the ACC Championships. While McCabe took first in the event, sophomore Gianna Bender claimed fourth place with her time of 2:15.13. Senior Christina Kyritsis posted a time of 2:18.25, finishing 11th and earning a collegiate-best time.
- Freshman Julia Lyons had an impressive day on the track and in the field events. In the 100m, Lyons grabbed fifth place overall, crossing the line in 12.38 seconds. Lyons also finished second place overall in the long jump, leaping for a personal-best distance of 5.81m (19-0.75).
- Also in the sprints, senior Robin Gross turned in a lifetime-best performance in the 200m, winning the event with her time of 25.44. The victory was Gross' first in her collegiate career, albeit after running in the second-fastest heat of competition.
- The young 100m hurdles squad for the Eagles had a successful day of performances. Freshman Anna Atkinson posted a collegiate-best time of 14.90, finishing third, while freshman Emma Taylor notched a personal best of 14.99 with her fourth-place finish.
- The 400m trio of sophomore Johanna Celli, freshman Monica Heil and Gross all earned season-best marks with their performances. Celli took home second place overall in 56.87, Heil third in 56.99 and Gross fifth in 57.47.
- Other first-place finishers on the day for the Eagles included senior Claudia DiSomma in the 1500m (4:34.13), freshman Mary Kate Vaughn in the 5K (18:05.89), junior Julia Barron in the 400m hurdles (1:02.33) and junior Laura Leff in the 3K steeplechase (11:06.11). Vaughn's victory was the first of her collegiate career.
- Not only did Vaughn and Leff claim first in their respective events, but the Eagles were also able to sweep the top three places in each event. While Vaughn won the 5K, sophomore Delia Hayes took second place in 18:14.18, and senior Amanda Rickert third in 18:20.30. Behind Leff in the steeplechase were sophomore Sarah Marvin in second (11:19.40) and senior Danna Levin in third (11:29.94).
- In the field events, senior Fallyn Boich took second in the javelin with her toss of 40.89m (134-02), while in the high jump, sophomore Elizabeth Knoll cleared a height of 1.65m (5-5) good for second place.
- BC turned in solid performances in the relays as well. The Eagles' 4x100m relay team of Heil, Celli Taylor and Lyons took third place overall with a time of 47.95. In the 4x400m relay, Heil, Gross, McCabe and Celli won the event, combining for a time of 3:54.45. To close out the meet, the 4x800m relay team of freshman Naomi Cartier, Bender, senior Catherine Maloy and Barron won in 9:46.71 after Barron came from behind during her anchor leg.

The Eagles head into the postseason the weekend of May 12th, as Georgia Tech will host the ACC Championships in Atlanta, Ga.
