Apuzzo A Nominee for Tewaaraton Player of the Year

Apuzzo is just one-of-three sophomores among the list
New York City, N.Y. – Boston College lacrosse's Sam Apuzzo was among the 25 names selected as Tewaaraton nominees, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation Friday.

Along with Apuzzo, only two other sophomores were selected as nominees for the NCAA Player of the Year award from the original 50-player list, announced at the start of the season.

Apuzzo has been the backbone of the Eagles' offense and has been a top-five scorer in the nation all season. With an ACC-leading 89 points, she leads the Eagles in goals (60), assists (29), draw controls (50) and has the highest shot percentage on the team, scoring on 55 percent of the time.

On Thursday, May 11, the 25-player field will be condensed to five finalists. The winners will be announced at the 17th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, which will be held June 1, 2017 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

The Eagles will take the field again Friday, April 28 at 5 p.m. against No. 3 North Carolina for the semifinals of the ACC Championship.
