Christopher Brown, Casey Fitzgerald and Michael Kim will don the three 'C's for the Eagles next season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior defensemen Casey Fitzgerald and Michael Kim alongside third-year forward Christopher Brown will all serve as captains of the 2017-18 Boston College hockey team as announced by head coach Jerry York Sunday afternoon at the 68th annual Pike's Peak banquet..
The Eagles' new captain corps was voted on by their peers.
Fitzgerald will follow in his older brother, Ryan Fitzgerald's footsteps, and don a letter for the Eagles in 2017-18. The North Reading, Mass. native was Boston College's second-leading scorer defensively, tallying give goals and 17 assists in 37 games this season. Heading into his third year on the blue line, Fitzgerald is one point shy of 50 (9-40-49) for his career.
After joining the Eagles midway through the 2015-16 season when he was a freshman, Kim exploded onto the scene in his first full year in the maroon and gold. The Toronto native finished second on the team in overall plus/minus with a +18 rating and logged 21 points (5-16-21) from the blue line.
Nationally, Kim was tied for 38th with a +18 plus/minus.
Brown led Boston College with a +19 plus/minus rating and returns to the lineup as the Eagles' leading scorer. The Bloomfield Hill, Mich. native racked up nine goals and 17 assists (26 points) in his sophomore campaign. His +19 rating was tied for 32nd in all of college hockey.
Boston College finished the 2016-17 season with a 21-15-4 mark and a 13-6-3 record in Hockey East play. The Eagles won their league-record 15th regular season title, finishing in a three-way tie with UMass Lowell and Boston University.
